The Met: Live in HD brings world class opera to movie theaters nationwide.  As the Met will remain dark until September 2021 due to the ongoig global health crisis, the live transmissions scheduled during the 2020-2021 season have been canceled.

Cosmic Microscapes: Seeing Into Rocks From Oregon and Space What do ancient pieces of cooled magma from the Moon and Mars have in common with samples from an eruption of Oregon’s Lava Butte only 7,000 years ago? Examined under a microscope, lava rocks from Earth, Moon, Mars and asteroids have striking similarities–not to mention exceptional abstract beauty. Discover the hidden art of igneous rocks from Oregon and other planets in our solar system in a new Museum exhibit. March 6, 2021 through July 18, 2021

Dam It! Beavers and Us

Humans and beavers have coexisted for thousands of years. This exhibition examines our coexistence with this herbivorous rodent throughout history. Humans dramatically altered their population and habitats. The European demand for beaver pelts for clothing, most notably hats, almost drove the mammal to extinction by the mid-19th century. January 30 through October 3, 2021

 

Daredevils

A new, original High Desert Museum exhibit, explores the meaning risk-taking plays in our lives, why daredevils capture our imaginations and the many reasons they have been drawn to High Desert landscapes to execute their feats. September 26, 2020 through May 2, 2021

While waiting for the time when we can all get together and share our music, the Central Oregon Symphony musicians are working on several projects that will help keep classical music alive for Central Oregon.

Bend Summer Festival

We are so excited to bring back the First Interstate Bank Bend Summer Festival for 2021. We are committed to the safety of our community and festival goers and are altering the focus of this year’s event to celebrate local artists, makers, growers and more. There will be limited live entertainment available in an effort to reduce large gatherings, but we are hopeful we will still be able to showcase performances in our Center Ring area. Expect to try delicious eats, browse creative makers and sip spirits all straight from the heart of Central Oregon.

The 37th annual Cascade Cycling Classic happenings June 2-6, 2021.

Newberry Festival

Newberry Festival in La Pine on July 29- August 1, 2021 with live music, art, camping, yoga, vendors and more. A benefit for Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Balloons Over Bend, Night Glow and Children’s Festival

Balloons Over Bend will be Friday-Sunday July 23-25th.  As the sun sets over the Old Mill District, balloons are setup in beautiful Bend, Oregon and inflated for all to see. It’s an opportunity to be up close and personal to these balloons, and to sit back and watch the balloons light up the sky.

Deschutes County Fair

The Deschutes County Fair  in Redmond July 28 – August 1, 2021. The Deschutes County Fair offers lots of great family-friendly entertainment including 4-H farm animals, Family-Fun Zone and carnival rides. Rodeo performances are free with admission on a first come first serve basis. Stroll through the barns and see the goats, pigs and bunnies and many more animals raised by local kids.

Bend Brewfest

The 2021 Brewfest is tentatively scheduled for August  19-21 at the Les Schwab Amphitheater.

Sunriver Music Festival

This classical music festival runs August 11-23 with performances in Sunriver and Bend. Classical Concert at the Tower Theatre on August 12, Pops Concerts on August 18 in Bend, Piano Recital in the Sunriver Great Hall on August 21 and much more. NorthWest Crossing Munch & Movies

Munch & Movies runs Friday nights August 18-September 1 at Compass Park. Live music by local musicians starts at 6pm and movies will begin at dusk. Enjoy dinner and dessert from nearby restaurants onsite. Free films on the big screen range from classic horror, unsurpassed comedy, moving drama and exciting action. Bring a low back chair and a blanket.

Shakespeare in the Park

Shakespeare in the Park presents Titus Andronicus on August 18-19 in Drake Park.

Solar Eclipse

Oregonians will have a front-row seat to this year’s total solar eclipse on August 21. The eclipse will cross the state in approximately 10 minutes and the total eclipse will last approximately two minutes for cities in the center of the path. Madras is considered one of the top ten towns in the United States to see the eclipse. Totality begins at 10:19am for just over two minutes.

In Redmond and Sisters, there will be about 30 seconds of totality. In Bend, there is no totality, but it will be an awesome event, with 99.7% of the Sun covered. You will need special viewing glasses or equipment to see the event. A total solar eclipse is a rare occurrence in which the Earth, Moon and Sun line up directly, casting a shadow on our planet. Being in the dark part of that shadow (the path of totality) ensures that you will see the total eclipse.

Art in the High Desert

Art in the High Desert—over 110 nationally acclaimed visual artists—in the Old Mill District on August 25-27.  Art in the High Desert is a signature annual event in Central Oregon’s thriving art scene. Mingle with fellow art lovers among booths of original arts and crafts.Get to know the artists showcasing mixed media, photography, jewelry, sculpture, ceramics, glass, printmaking, wood, fiber art, drawing and more.

Little Woody Barrel Aged Beer & Whiskey Festival

The Little Woody takes place next to the Deschutes Historical Museum in downtown Bend on September 1-2.

Sisters Folk Festival

The Sisters Folk Festival is a celebration of American music from blues to bluegrass. The Festival runs September 8-10 in downtown Sisters and covers seven stages with performances by internationally recognized artists and the best of up-and-coming talent in folk, blues, bluegrass, and all genres in between. A unique and intimate setting for fantastic music.

BendFilm

The annual BendFilm Festival runs October 12-15. A celebration of independent film at numerous locations in Bend including Regal Cinemas, Tower Theatre, McMenamin’s Old St. Francis, Oxford Hotel, Volcanic Theatre Pub and Tin Pan Theater.

Bend Venture Conference

Bend Venture Conference is the largest angel conference in the Pacific Northwest and is known for connecting early stage companies and entrepreneurs with investment and mentors. Hosted by Economic Development of Central Oregon on October 19-20, this annual event includes attendees, investors and companies with the possibility of one million in investments and services awarded to multiple companies.

Bend Design Conference

Bend Design Conference is a series of conversations, workshops, tours and exhibits by and for creative innovators everywhere. Bend Design Conference by Scalehouse happening October 26-27 for creative thinkers, innovators and disrupters everywhere.

Bend Design Conference is evolving beyond the lecture format to an interactive dialogue to inspiring and equipping future creative leaders. Attendees can expect to further the ideas they came with, make connections with new mentors and co-conspirators, and emerge ready to design the future. A conference for all of us curious about how design can interpret, connect and shape our world.

Mt. Bachelor Riverhouse Jazz Series

The Riverhouse Jazz Series has just announced their 2017-2018 season at the Riverhouse on the Deschutes. The series kicks-off with Kandance Springs, a jazz singer-songwriter, pianist and a Prince protege on October 20-21. The season includes: Donald Harrison and Trell Stafford Quintet (nouveau swing) on November 17-18, Darrell Grant Quartet and David Goldblatt Quartet ( Portland pianists) on December 22-23, Buster Williams, Lenny White and Goerge Colligan (bass-drums-piano) on January 12-13, Regina Carter Quintet (jazz violin) on February 16-17, Taylor Eigsti, Harish Raghavan, Eric Garland and Julian Lage (piano-bass-drums-guitar) on March 23-24 and ends with Dan Balmer (Portland guitarist leads three bands) on April 20-21. Visit Riverhouse Jazz Series for tickets and more information.

Sunriver Resort is hosting a free summer concert series on Thursday-Saturday evenings from 6:30-8:30pm.

Twilight Cinema Sunriver Style

An outdoor movie series that runs August- September with festivities starting at 6:30pm and free family friendly movies begin at dusk. Movie location alternates between The Village at Sunriver and SHARC.

Muse Women’s Conference

The annual Muse Women’s Conference (in early March) brings together local women & teens with internationally recognized artists, authors, athletes, entrepreneurs, activists, and social change leaders to celebrate International Women’s Day and kick-off Women’s History Month.

This four-day event will include a Film Series, Salon Series, Art Show, Community Yoga Class, Meetups, Art as Activism workshop and our main conference day program.

Jazz at the Oxford

The annual Jazz at the Oxford series runs October -March. An amazing collection of jazz musicians coming to the Oxford Hotel next season.

Nancy R. Chandler Visiting Scholar Program

Caldera Open Studios

Caldera’s Artist Open Studios offers an opportunity to meet professional visual, literary and performing artists selected for month-long residencies from Kentucky, California, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Washington, New York and Coquitlam, British Colombia.

Many 2017 Artists in Residents will share their work through workshops and presentations to Caldera youth in Bend, Redmond, Warm Springs, Madras, Sisters, Terrebonne and Portland. Caldera is located past Sisters, Saturdays from 1-3pm.

Fathom Events

Fathom Events brings the best in one-night and limited-run events to Regal Cinemas throughout the year. National and international productions this holiday season include several ballet performances. The Bolshoi Ballet presents Sunday matinees captured the same day from Moscow. Bolshio Ballet simulcast returns in Fall 2017.
