The Old Mill District is a hub of creative connections.
The Old Mill District his home to incredible art studios and galleries whose artists and creators continue to inspire the broader community.
Located in the “Little Red Shed” on the south end of the district you’ll find Amejko Artistry and the nomadic woven art curated by Anna Amejko. She launched her Oregon Landmarks collection this spring which includes a handful of pieces showcasing places near to all our hearts: Smith Rock, Multnomah Falls and Three Sisters Mountains.
Above Sisters Coffee Co. on the second-floor level you’ll find Lubbesmeyer Art Studio & Gallery. Sisters Lisa and Lori Lubbesmeyer have wowed us with their collaborative, layered works of art for 15 years. While the Old Mill District has been their home, their work has traveled far and wide. In fact, one of their pieces is now a tattoo on a collector in Tel Aviv! Closer to home, the Lubbesmeyer sisters recently installed a tryptic titled “Broken Top” at Partners in Care Hospice in Bend.
Between the Ticket Mill and Zumiez is our artist collective, Tumalo Art Co. This spring, Tumalo Art Co. celebrated their 20th anniversary as a vibrant hub for many of Central Oregon’s best-known artists and a welcoming place for art lovers of all ages. The First Friday of each month, in conjunction with the Old Mill District’s First Friday Art Walk, Tumalo Art Co. opens a new show. June featured artist Danae Bennett-Miller’s cast bronze and glass sculpture as well as hand-pulled prints; July’s show is called “P3-Press-Pull-Print” highlighting the work of Bend artist Adell Shetterly; and in August we’ll be invited to “Think Wild” utilizing a collection of Katherine Taylor’s poignant wildlife portraits. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the non-profit, Think Wild, a local hospital dedicated to providing care to injured or orphaned native animals and facilitate their successful release back into the wild.
