Leap Day proposal in the Old Mill District

There’s an old Irish tradition that says it’s “appropriate” for women to propose marriage to men on Feb. 29, Leap Day, which happens only every four years.

Well, Redmond’s Katie Brown winked at that old folklore this past weekend and threw off the traditional gender expectations that come with engagements when she proposed to her boyfriend Corey Spurlock in the Old Mill District. Saxon’s Fine Jewelers and photographer Gwen Shoemaker helped coordinate the surprise with Katie and her girls.

We think it turned out pretty darn special.

Congrats to Katie, Corey and their new family!
