(Last updated January 24, 2024)

You chose Bend as your three-day weekend destination, way to go!

We highly recommend making note of the on-mountain offerings up at Mt. Bachelor, as well as Hoodoo Ski Area and Willamette Pass. For the rest of your weekend planning, we collected a handful of other activities in Bend and Central Oregon worthy for the whole family!

Bend WinterFest

High Desert Museum

Wildlife, art, history, living history – the High Desert Museum has it all! Located five minutes south of Bend, the museum sits on 135 acres and features river otters, porcupines, an authentic homestead and sawmill from 1904 as well as seasonal exhibits. Current museum exhibits include the Autzen Otter Exhibit including both outdoor and indoor viewing areas to watch the otters, “Wolves: Photography by Ronan Donovan” providing an intimate look into the creatures’ lesser known lives, “Timber Culture” an examination of Maxville one of Oregon’s historic segregated towns, and “Andy Warhol’s Endangered Species” showcasing his commitment to conversation and his artwork’s enduring relevance.

Tower Theatre

Downtown Bend’s historic theatre hosts global, national, and local artists that reflect the organization’s commitment to bring a variety of performance art to Central Oregon. From acrobats and Irish dance to Grammy-winning musical stars, the lineup spans genres and geography to offer something for everyone. The Tower’s entire season runs through June 30, 2024, and includes over three dozen events presented by the nonprofit Tower Theatre Foundation.

Confluence Fly Shop

Another experience we love are the casting lessons and fly tying classes at Confluence Fly Shop. Enjoy the scenery along the river while the experts at Confluence Fly Shop teach you how to cast and tie flies. Then laugh about it over a local craft beer at their indoor-outdoor 8-tap bar while planning your next adventure!

Bottomless Mimosas at Greg’s Grill

Greg’s Grill on the Deschutes in the Old Mill District boasts breathtaking views, exceptional food, and one-of-a-kind drinks – especially on the weekend! Pop into Greg’s for bottomless mimosas Saturdays and Sundays this winter. Greg’s Grill sits amidst the bustle of retail therapy, movie theaters, art galleries and restaurants. Inside, Northwest-style architecture utilizes natural materials and floor-to-ceiling windows, which overlook the Deschutes River and the Cascade mountain range. It just might be the perfect place to sit and enjoy good times and fabulous food with friends and family.

Wild Child Toy Store

The Old Mill District’s whimsical toy store is home to a selection of beautifully curated and sustainable toys, games and crafts. We’re in love with all the Elsa Beskow books and gorgeous wall hangings owner Keri Travis has stocked her store with. Located next to Evoke Winery and Avalon Salon and Spa in the Old Mill District, this is the go-to spot for something special while you’re here in Central Oregon.
