One of Bend, Oregon’s beloved traditions is welcoming a festive fall and winter season with Deschutes Brewery’s Jubelale.
For the past 20 years, Deschutes has commissioned a local artist to create unique piece of artwork that is transformed into the seasonal brew’s festive label. This year, we are delighted that Jubelale features original fiber artwork created by Lori and Lisa Lubbesmeyer, co-owners of Lubbesmeyer Studio and Gallery, here in the Old Mill District.
Both Craft beer and art work will be celebrated at Deschutes Brewery tonight, Friday, October 3rd from 5 – 8pm in their flagship pub on Bond Street. The artists will be in attendance and free posters will be provided for attendees.
As with all their fiber work, the twins’ artwork for Jubelale 2014 was created through their unique method of layering and overstitching with fabrics. During their artistic process, they exchange the pieces, allowing the imagery to emerge spontaneously.
“We typically work in landscapes, so adding figures in was something fairly recent for us as artists,” said Lisa Lubbesmeyer. “We needed to come up with something that reflected the energy of the season. The scene we created was meant to capture the essence of the lifestyle we enjoy here in Central Oregon.”
Here’s to the art and craft beer collaboration! May it be enjoyed by many, celebrating happy occasions!
