Journey to Juneteenth in Bend at the Old Mill District

Hujambo Wasafiri (Hello Travelers in Swahili)! The Journey to Juneteenth is a multi-month scavenger hunt designed by The Fathers Group that serves as an interactive journey educating participants on the history of the Juneteenth Celebration from its origins to its present-day celebration while having fun interacting with different locations, sponsors and vendors from the upcoming Juneteenth Central Oregon Celebration! The official journey starts with Journal Entry #1 which we’ve heard is at Open Space Event Studios, and then the Old Mill District has three, yes THREE stops further along the adventure. Find the kiosks throughout the district and scan the QR codes to learn more about how you can play, learn AND win!

About Juneteenth:
The 3rd Annual Juneteenth Celebration will be held at Drake Park on June 17th and 18th 2023. This fun, family-friendly event will be a two-day festival elevating Juneteenth throughout the state of Oregon. It will feature unique entertainment, music, food dancing and face painting for the kids. There will be a variety of historical and educational exhibits, artistic displays, and recreation for all ages. Juneteenth Central Oregon 2023’s theme is “Discovering Our Roots”. During this two-day event, folks will journey through the Black community’s history originating back in Africa through to present day; featuring their unique and powerful contributions to this country.
