See your favorite movies from yesteryear on the big screen

Back for a fourth year, the TCM Big Screen Classics series brings movie favorites from the past back to cinema!

Here’s the final TCM Big Screen Classic of 2019 playing at Regal Cinemas in the Old Mill District:

The Godfather Part II (1974) – 45th Anniversary from Paramount Pictures

Sunday, November 10, 3 p.m.

Tuesday, November 12, 7 p.m.

Wednesday, November 13, 7 p.m.

In what is one of the best sequels ever made, Francis Ford Coppola continues his epic Godfather trilogy with this saga of two generations of power within the Corleone family. Coppola, working once again with the author Mario Puzo, crafts two interwoven stories that work as both prequel and sequel to the original. One shows the humble Sicilian beginnings and New York rise of a young Don Vito, played by Robert De Niro in an Oscar-winning performance for Best Supporting Actor. The other shows the ascent of Michael (Al Pacino) as the new Don. Reassembling many of the cast members who helped make The Godfather, Coppola has produced a movie of staggering magnitude and vision, the film received eleven Academy Awards nominations, winning six including Best Picture of 1974.

A timeless classic best revered on the big screen, time tested fans and newcomers alike won’t want to miss this special event featuring exclusive insight from Turner Classic Movies. This event includes a five minute intermission.

When Harry Met Sally (1989) – 30th Anniversary from Warner Bros.

Sunday, December 1 – 4 and 7 p.m.

Tuesday December 3 – 4 and 7 p.m.

There are rom-coms and then there’s When Harry Met Sally…. Though it was hardly the first film that brought together romantic opposites and let the sparks fly, director Rob Reiner’s charming comedy is something special. That’s in part because of the brilliant screenplay by Nora Ephron – but it’s also because of the winning chemistry between lead performers Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal, who become best friends when they drive from New York to Chicago and Harry claims that women and men can never be “just friends.” Over the years, Harry and Sally keep running into each other and claiming they are just friends… until a climactic New Year’s Eve party, which brings both the film and the 2019 TCM Big Screen Classics series to a memorable close.
