“Body Language” Exhibit at Tumalo Art Co. – Artist Dee McBrien-Lee

Tumalo Art Co. presents Dee McBrien-Lee’s exhibit, “Body Language,” opening Sept. 5 from 3 to 7 p.m. during the Old Mill District First Friday Art Walk. Focusing on abstracted figures and the ways they interact with one another, each painting tells a story that is left for the viewer to interpret, with the title often offering a clue. Dee embraces the freedom of creating without boundaries or clear guidelines, allowing her imagination to lead the way. Beginning with large areas of color, line and texture, she discovers her subjects throughout the painting process. A single body part or suggestion of attitude in a mark or line may become the beginning of a figure, with others emerging intentionally or through discovery. Rather than following a set pattern, Dee allows each painting to develop its own life and story, inviting viewers to find their own meaning within the work.

Artists Lisa & Lori Lubbesmeyer

Lubbesmeyer Art Studio and Gallery will welcome art walk visitors with open doors and an invitation to explore. This First Friday is a special one, as artists Lisa and Lori Lubbesmeyer kick off their own celebration of the Old Mill District’s 25th anniversary with their “Cheers to the Years!” art drawings. Stop by for your chance to win a variety of unique pieces, including art tiles and ornaments, all created by the artists. The Lubbesmeyer sisters have been passionate and dedicated artists in the Old Mill District since its early days, moving into their current location in 2002. Over nearly 24 years in the district, they’ve been wonderful neighbors, always eager to participate in community events like First Friday Art Walks, and have shown unwavering support for the community here. The Old Mill District’s 25th anniversary isn’t just about celebrating years of growth, but about celebrating the people who have been here since the beginning and stayed with us throughout the years, playing their part in the district’s unity. Swing by Lubbesmeyer Art Studio and Gallery to enter their art drawing, with 5 winners to be announced Sept. 25, and take a moment to hear Lisa and Lori’s story in the Old Mill District.

Artist Rachel Barbera

The Stacks Art Studios & Gallery remains a hub of creativity, with six standout artists sharing their distinct visions. Alyson Brown, a photographer and stylist, pairs botanical imagery with elevated visual storytelling. Lindsay Gilmore’s abstract landscapes are rooted in the textures and colors of the Pacific Northwest, while Jennifer McCaffrey brings energy and movement to her impressionistic and abstract paintings. Mark Seekins is known for his nature-inspired prints and for redesigning the covers of the original five “Game of Thrones” books, and Gwen Gossett’s leans into printmaking world with her own flair of whimsical illustrations that celebrate storytelling and character design.

The Stacks Art Studios & Gallery also recently welcomed a new artist, Rachel Barbera, an abstract artist who works primarily with oil paint and incorporates mixed media like burned wood, pastel, pigment sticks and plaster. This First Friday is a great excuse to meet Rachel and ask her about the new jewelry line she’ll soon introduce alongside her acrylic works.

Confluence Fly Shop will host “First Fly Day” from 4 to 8 p.m. This casual gathering encourages fly tyers to bring their vises, tie up some bugs and enjoy $5 pints while connecting with fellow anglers.

Dudley’s Bookshop in Bend’s Old Mill District will join the First Friday Art Walk, bringing creativity and whimsy to the south end of the plaza. Stop by to enjoy specialty wine pours, browse a curated selection of books, celebrate the art of storytelling and explore creative book cover designs.

Elk Vintage will feature vintage clothing, accessories and home décor. Stop by to shop one-of-a-kind vintage finds and enjoy a blend of local style throughout the evening. Elk Vintage is also blending retro with botanical baked goods in collaboration with florist and pastry chef Andy from Cafe des Chutes. Indulge in apple cider margaritas and chia-spiced shortbread, fitting for a cozy First Friday Art Walk.

Stop by Greg’s Grill from 5 to 7 p.m. during First Friday for live music with a performance by Dustin Sciaraffo who is known for his acoustic guitar skills and rock ‘n’ roll melodies!

Her unique pieces are the perfect complement to Hello Sunshine’s apparel and make it easy to add a little something extra to your shopping bag.

M’s Bakery founder Dario Mucino Trujillo grew up in Mexico City. Now he and his wife, Macy Davis, are bringing a piece of that heritage to the Old Mill District with a Mexican wine tasting during First Friday Art Walk. The bakery will also offer its seasonal and popular pastries for visitors to sample. Its a great stop to make on your art walk stroll for a little taste of culinary artistry.

Portland Gear is joining in on First Friday with local photographer and Bend Photo Tours owner Toni Toreno, who will highlight some of her best work and share details on how you can join a photography experience of your own here in Central Oregon. Find information on guided or self-guided photo tours, workshops and other in-field training sessions so you, too, can practice your skills and discover your own passion for photography.

Head to REVOLVR this First Friday to shop the season’s must-have menswear. While you’re there, meet 19-year old, professional photographer and videographer, Wyatt Marshall, who finds inspiration in nature, urban landscapes and human connection to capture untold stories through a camera lens.
