A Thanksgiving Primer in Two Parts
A season of gratitude is already underway here in Bend. With plans being made to gather with family and friends, we’ve put together a Thanksgiving primer in two parts to inspire and delight a happy holiday with suggestions for everyone including those hosting, visiting or simply showing up for dessert.
Part 1: Plan
For those of you graciously hosting festivities may we recommend a visit to Savory Spice Shop? Doing so will provide ample inspiration for a remarkable feast. You’ll find it easy to talk brining and seasonings with a team fluent in foodie conversations as you gather provisions for a delicious meal.
Next door at Gingers Kitchenware you’ll find a gorgeous selection of Oregon, Washington and French wines to accompany the meal as well as baking supplies, tableware and cookbooks. You can also stay on point by having your knives professionally sharpened for .50 cents/inch.
Joining others in celebration at their home? Bring a side dish, pumpkin pie and a perhaps a sweet treat for your hosts. Visit the Pomegranate Holiday Shop, now open in the Old Mill District for seasonal candles, linens, decor and more. An added benefit is the jump start you’ll get on your holiday list.
Of course, the alternative of eating out is always a welcome option. Here in the Old Mill District you’ll have the choice of Greg’s Grill or Hola! Strictly Organic will also be open for a coffee fix with savory and sweet treats on their menu. Incorporate their happy hour and you can buy one drink getting the second one half off from 4-6pm.
Part 2 Celebrate
Begin your day with the Thanksgiving Classic, a fun run intended for the whole family. The event is produced by the Boys & Girls Club benefiting Girls on the Run. This year, it offers a new route with 5k and 10k options, prizes, refreshments and snacks.
Whether it’s a friendly game of football in the backyard or a game on the television, you can cheer on your favorite teams with gear from the Oregon Locker Room.
Need a break from the family dynamics following the feast? A bevy of new movie releases including The Night Before, The Good Dinosaur, Creed and Victor Frankenstein will be showing on the big screen at Regal Cinemas. Of course, there’s always crowd-pleasing options including The Peanuts Movie, Spectre 007, The Martian, and Steven Spielberg’s latest hit Bridge of Spies.
Most importantly, we hope you’ll enjoy this special holiday that puts gratitude at the fore. Do you have a favorite Thanksgiving dish or tradition? Share it in the comments for a chance to win a $25 Gift Certificate from the Old Mill District.
Wishing you the very best.
