Each year, the Old Mill District hosts the Tree of Joy in SantaLand – a special giving tree that ensures that needy children in our area will receive a gift over the holidays. The Tree of Joy,which has been an annual tradition put on by the Rotary Club since the mid-1980s, features tags that community members can select. The tag is matched to a child in need, and the selector is asked to donate an appropriate gift. This year, the Salvation Army is coordinating both the screening and qualifying of those included in the tree’s tags, and the timely delivery of the gifts.
Serving approximately 900 individuals this holiday season, this is the perfect way to give back. Just come down to SantaLand, select a tag, buy a gift and drop it off (see below).
The Tree of Joy will be open from November 23-December 16 inside SantaLand – names may be selected and gifts delivered anytime Monday-Thursday from 3-7:30pm and Friday-Sunday 11am-6pm, or gifts can be dropped off anytime at the Hilton Garden Inn.
