Bend choral group announces free spring concerts
Central Oregon Mastersingers, under the direction of Christian Clark, present Johannes Brahms powerful masterpiece Ein deutsches Requiem (A German Requiem) Sunday, Apr 10 at 4 p.m. and Monday, Apr 11 at 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Central Oregon. This reflective yet uplifting masterpiece feels particularly appropriate for the Mastersingers to offer as we look back on a difficult couple of years. Tickets are free, but must be reserved, and donations are greatly appreciated.
Composed with the intent to comfort those grieving the loss of a loved one, Brahms called this a “human requiem” and assembled the texts himself, choosing not to employ the standard (and often angry and judgmental) liturgical texts of the Requiem Mass. Soloists performing with the Central Oregon Mastersingers this spring include Jocelyn Claire Thomas, soprano, and Zachary Lenox, baritone. These fabulous singers, well-known in Central Oregon, will share the stage with local pianists Diane Thielen and Suzanne Gainey.
Inspired by the power of music to positively affect lives, the Central Oregon Mastersingers is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization seeking to enrich and enhance our community through the presentation of high-quality choral music. We encourage you to reserve your tickets as soon as possible, as seating is limited!
