Budd Gould, founder of Anthony’s Restaurants, was honored by the Washington Hospitality Association with the Jerry Burtenshaw Lifetime Achievement Award.

Anthony’s Restaurants is a family-owned group of restaurants throughout the Pacific Northwest, of which one location can be found here in the Old Mill District on the north end of Center Plaza near the flag bridge. From classic ‘to-go’ eateries to casual dining and relaxed dinner houses, Anthony’s core commitment to fresh Northwest seafood, complemented by local produce, Northwest wines and microbrews, is the foundation for each restaurant.

Gould credits his achievements to loyal leadership team working alongside him that count their tenure in decades. Fifteen of those leaders have worked for Anthony’s for more than 35 years and were present to help celebrate this award. The longevity in leadership is a testament Gould’s commitment to promoting from within and taking care of his team – two unwavering values he implemented nearly 50 years ago.

Founder of Anthony's Restaurants Budd Gould Honored with Lifetime Achievement Award

“This award is not about me. It’s for my team,” said Budd Gould. “It is their passion for Anthony’s standards of quality, excellent service, and giving back to their communities that have helped grow Anthony’s to what it is today.”

“I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside my Dad my whole life,” said Herb Gould, Anthony’s Co-President. “He taught us grit, passion, and that our restaurants are only as healthy as the communities they serve.” Amy Burns, Anthony’s Co-President, and Budd’s daughter said, “He is always a coach, and has a natural ability to bring out a person’s leadership strength.”
Gould started a steak and lobster restaurant in Bellevue, WA in 1969, but soon shifted focus to seafood. Gould made sourcing local ingredients the “Anthony’s Way” long before it was a trendy movement. In the 1980’s he started working directly with other family-owned companies and farmers to ensure the food he served guests was as fresh and local as possible.

Like all of the family-owned restaurants, Anthony’s Restaurant at the Old Mill District is unique to our community reflecting its style and vibe. One of their signature features in Bend is the beautifully landscaped riverside patio, quite possibly the ideal spot to take in small plates and drinks with friends. Three firepits tucked along the Deschutes River also make for a great gathering spot well after the sun sets. Peruse multiple menu options here: Anthony’s Restaurant at the Old Mill District
