It’s feeling like patio season!

Here’s some recommendations for patio dining any time you’re looking to enjoy great food and drink in the beautiful outdoors here in Bend.

At Anthony’s, take in not one but three fire pits as the sun sets. This is really important for early and late season diners when evening temperatures drop into the 30s and 40s.  Located near the pedestrian footbridge, Anthony’s patio offers spectacular views of the Deschutes and the Cascades.

Looking to enjoy the sunset with a great Northwest cab or red blend? Cozy up on Va Piano’s back patio which looks out over the river almost directly across from the Les Schwab Amphitheater. Call ahead on concert night as their wine club – which is phenomenal, by the way – usually has events centered around shows.

Another great patio options in Bend is at Boxwood Kitchen. (You may have read about them in The New York Times!) On warmer days Boxwood rolls up its sliding wall, giving its entire space an open and Mediterranean feel. Their patio, which is anchored by gorgeous flower boxes, makes for a great pre- or post-concert cocktail. We really, really enjoy their El Rey cocktail made with jalapeno-infused tequila, cucumber and lime.

Now, if you’re thinking about a more elevated view, check out Rapa Nui’s outdoor seating area above Saxon’s Fine Jewelers. You’ll revel in some of the best drinks in town on their outdoor deck.

At Greg’s Grill, fancy hot chocolates along the largest fire pit in the Old Mill District make for a great way to wind down with the family. Cocktails along the river aren’t too bad, either. Pastini and its two outdoor fireplace along the Deschutes also makes for a nice gathering spot with a crowd. In the same neighborhood, Flatbread Neapolitan Pizzeria offers outdoor seating and an indoor-outdoor fireplace that provides plenty of ambiance and Evoke Winery offers views of the Old Mill District’s hot ponds and northern footbridge.

Farthest up river, south of the footbridge, is Red Robin and its wraparound deck. Diners can take in all the activity at the Old Mill District from Red Robin’s outdoor seating, including joggers and walkers on both sides of the river trail and the constant flow of kayakers and canoers during the warmer months. The perfect option for parents wanting to catch a little bit of music on LSA concert nights while the little ones have unlimited fries and milkshakes to keep them busy.

Finally, if you’re looking to be in the heart of the action on a concert night, grab your favorite espresso drink or even a craft beer from Strictly Organic and revel in the Old Mill District’s most active intersection.
