When snow days turn into snow weeks, feeling stir crazy is only normal. What to do when the novelty of PJs all day, science experiments and ad hoc art assignments have worn off? Here are a few ideas to inspire your holiday weekend.

RESTLESS REMEDY

Break free of CABIN FEVER with Lululemon Local. They’ve scheduled a variety of weekend of family fun activities that begin with KIDS BOOTCAMP for ages 3 -10, Friday January 13th at 3pm. Activities will be led by Blaire Rummel and Tiffany Chapin, owners of Northwest BOD.

An Arts + Crafts Workshop will be convened throughout the day on Saturday. Parents can peruse the shop, sip on kombucha or beer while little ones get creative at the Lululemon community table.

Back by popular demand, Mom and Kid Yoga, led by Kristin Tone returns on Sunday.  Suitable for elementary age boys and girls, all you’ll need is a yoga mat for instruction from 10 – 10:45am.

Snowmans, igloos and other Holiday Snow Play activities will be happening in Lululemon’s backyard on Monday from 12p – 2p. Bring a camera and share your pics. It’s bound to be a big grin affair. Find the details and RSVP on the Lululemon Facebook Event Page

DIY PIZZA MAKING

Invite your kids to create their own pizza masterpieces at Flatbread Community Oven. Ingredients for a fun construction project are provided. You get to relax with an ample selection soul satisfying wood-fired pizzas, seasonal craft beers and other dranky dranks. To celebrate a culinary coup, save room for warm chocolate chip cookies and locally made Bonta Gelato from a case full of your favorite flavors.

MOVIE MATINEE

Get the popcorn, add your favorite treats and enjoy an afternoon of laughter and awe together at the movies. Family friendly films that are now showing in Bend include Moana, Sing and Monster Trucks. Visit Regal Cinemas for showtimes and additional information.

SNACK PARTY

Savory Spice Bend is offering a special SNACK PARTY to inspire memorable menus for Superbowl celebrations and other upcoming events. Regardless of your favorite football team, you’ll enjoy samples of pulled pork Sandwiches, slaws, chips, dips and cider, 12p – 3p on Saturday, January 14th.

HIGH DESERT MUSEUM

Bundle up and pile into your car for a safe ride down to the High Desert Museum. Watching the resident Otters frolic in the snow never fails to put a smile on your face. Wander over to the Birds of Prey Center and marvel at up-close encounters with magnificent raptors. Tour an always evolving exhibit offering together and take in the talks scheduled throughout the day. It’s pretty much guaranteed that visitors of any age will delight in the variety of experiences that bring history and science to the fore. Open daily, the High Desert Museum is offering free (SNOW DAY) entry to the Museum on Friday, January 13 in partnership with Mid Oregon Credit Union.

And of course, there’s always Mt Bachelor skiing, riding, sledding and sliding to look forward to! We hope that whatever you do, you find ways to play together in the midst of our memorable winter. Share your favorite moments with us by tagging #OldMillDistrict in all of your social shares.
