Take the fly fishing trip of a lifetime
No one knows Central Oregon’s rivers and lakes like Deep Canyon Outfitters.
The guiding and outfitting arm of Confluence Fly Shop in the Old Mill District, Deep Canyon has been providing once-in-a-lifetime fishing trips for more than 25 years. Deep Canyon Outfitters has twice been named the Orvis Expedition of the Year (2012 and 2015) and when The New York Times came out west to do a story on the salmon fly hatch, it was Deep Canyon they interviewed.
“Wishing to begin a yearly father-son fly fishing legacy with my 6-year-old son, and after interviewing various guide services, (Deep Canyon Outfitters) were not only receptive to my vision, but supportive and enthusiastic as well,” says Kurt Brickner of Roseburg, who’s spent multiple days on the waters with Deep Canyon. “The result was a stellar three-day float trip that has since become a cherished event in our lives every summer.”
With multiple water types and various seasonal impacts, Deep Canyon’s history of being on the water year in and year out is invaluable – and experience you just can’t get anywhere else.
Deep Canyon offers three types of excursions: half-day trips, full-day trips and overnight, multi-day camping adventures. All gear – boots, waders, rods and reels – are include with every style of trip.
Half-day trips: Popular with families, new anglers and business travelers with limited free time, Deep Canyon’s half-day trips are the perfect way to get a taste of what fly fishing is all about. Trips are at least four hours long and are focused on learning about the sport, catching fish and just generally having a memorable time on the water. The Fall River, Crooked River and the Upper Deschutes make for great half-day, walk-in trips. And Crane Prairie Reservoir serves as a spectacular option for half-day boat trips. Drinks and snacks come with all half-day trips.
Full-day trips: Looking to fully take in the beauty of the Central Oregon outdoors and the world-class fishing in the area? Consider one of Deep Canyon’s full-day adventures. Trips are at least eight hours, often longer if the fishing is good. The Fall River and Crooked both work fantastically well for full-day, walk-in fishing options. And the Lower Deschutes, Upper Deschutes and McKenzie rivers provide exceptional trips for anglers looking to fly fish from a boat. Lunch, drinks and snacks are included with full-day trips.
Camping trips: The ultimate way to experience the best of fly fishing in Central Oregon, Deep Canyon’s award-winning multi-day trip has no other peer. Anglers float a 32-mile section of the wild and scenic Lower Deschutes River, where towering canyon walls and active whitewater guards pristine rainbow trout and summer steelhead habitat. Typically done in four days, anglers will fish one of the most famous rivers in America, eat delicious food made from local farmers, sleep on super comfortable padded cots in three-season tents, and make memories that’ll last a lifetime.
