Summer’s winding down, but there’s still plenty of opportunities for a river adventure.

Here’s some tips and updates from Tumalo Creek Kayak & Canoe:

Tube Rentals: The Bend Park & Float Station will close the day after Labor Day, Sept. 3, but you can still get your tube float on through Tumalo’s main shop on 805 SW Industrial Way, where tube rentals will be available until Sept. 15.

Kayak and Paddleboard Rentals: Tumalo will still be hosting kayak and paddleboard rentals out of Riverbend Park will  Sept. 3-15, weather permitting.  Their main shop and Riverbend Park hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. after Labor Day.

Classes and Tours

Fall Foliage Tour: Join Tumalo for one of their most popular tour with the colors changing out on the scenic section of the Upper Deschutes River just 15 minutes out of town.  Tours are available Tuesdays and Fridays in September and October, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at a non-peak season rate of $65. Anyone wanting the true Central Oregon paddling experience should do this tour! Guide, equipment and transportation provided.

Upper Deschutes River Tour:  A longer tour than the Fall Foliage tour (about 6 hours). This tour is on the water for about 3 hours and includes lunch. Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tumalo provides all transportation, shuttle, equipment, guide and gourmet river lunch, courtesy of local eatery Nancy P’s.
