Get creative with your cocktails this weekend
A refreshing cocktail or mocktail made with your own infusions or simple syrups is easy and can take your bartending to a new level. Here’s one of our favorite drinks to make – and enjoy – during the long days of summer, courtesy of our local spice merchant, Matt Perry from Savory Spice.
Lemon Ginger Moonshine
Ingredients
- 2 cups lemonade
- 1/4 cup Honey Powder
- 5 to 7 Markut Lime Leaves
- 1 tsp. Organic Ground Ginger
- 1/4 cup moonshine*
Notes
*Moonshine is widely available in liquor stores, but vodka will work as a substitute.
Directions
Whisk together lemonade and honey powder in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add lime leaves and ginger and simmer for about 5 min. Remove from heat and allow mixture to cool to room temperature. Strain into a 2-cup sealable jar and stir in moonshine. It’s ready to sip right away, but it gets even better if you chill it for at least 24 hours.
Serving Suggestions
Pour small servings from the jar and sip or mix with ice and soda water for a refreshing cocktail.
Yields
2 cups
