18th Annual BendFilm Fest
October 7 @ 8:00 am - October 17 @ 5:00 pm
On the second weekend of October, Bend is transformed from a recreational haven into a small town possessed by the film industry’s soul.
We gather to behold the work of the most talented independent filmmakers. Downtown theaters, lecture sites, music rooms and party venues spark with the energy excited by the overwhelming presence of cinema. The event runs deeper than the marathon film-watching that fills guests’ schedules from dawn until, well, dawn. Everyone you see on the sidewalks, in the restaurants and bars makes, cares or has an opinion about film. It’s the serendipitous encounters and ensuing discussions with the filmmakers and fellow pass holders that makes the weekend so inspiring and affecting.
This year, the BendFilm Festival celebrates independent films and the risky, passionate, tough and talented people who make them over 10 days, from Oct. 7 to Oct. 17.
The 2021 festival will feature traditional theater experiences, drive-in options and virtual screenings, along with filmmaker discussions and masterclasses mixed in for good measure. Filmmakers will also have access to book a mentor session with an established filmmaker, writer, cinematographer or writer.
Additionally, BendFilm is set to award $12,000 in cash prizes this fall, including a $5,000 cash “Best of Show!” award.
Can’t make it to the film festival this year? No problem. BendFilm hosts a series of cinematic events year round. Check out a flick at the Tin Pan Theater or screen an indie flick online through their “Film Pharmacy” offerings.
