Canceled – Heaven Can Wait
June 7, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
St. Charles Foundation’s annual Heaven Can Wait 5K walk/run for breast cancer has grown to become one of the largest 5K races in Central Oregon. Each year on National Cancer Survivors Day, the first Sunday in June, the Heaven Can Wait 5K draws thousands to Bend’s Drake Park with a shared mission to raise funds for Sara’s Project. Sara’s Project raises funds to provide education, early detection and support services to ease the challenges of breast cancer for people in Central and Eastern Oregon.
The USATF Certified course starts and finishes in Drake Park. Team participation is encouraged and timing is optional. This event is open to all skills and abilities. The course is 5K (3.1 miles) starting and finishing in Bend’s beautiful Drake Park. The course takes you south toward the historic Old Mill District and Mill Point Business Park, winds back through McKay Park and residential neighborhoods and returns to Drake Park where festivities and the finish line await. The route is mostly flat with hills on Columbia and Shevlin-Hixon. The course will be well marked. Aid stations will offer water, and volunteers along the course will encourage and help direct participants.
